The University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo's Student Medical Services (SMS) is staffed by a nurse practitioner. Services include medical care, prescriptions, first aid, health education, tuberculin skin tests and immunizations. The Family Planning Clinic, located within the SMS, offers pelvic exams, contraceptive methods, and testing for pregnancy and sexually-transmitted diseases for men and women.
